Samuel, Maurice

   American author and translator. He was born in Macin, Romania, and was taken to England, where he grew up in Manchester. In 1914 he settled in the US. His writings include You Gentiles, I, the few, Jews on Approval, The Great Hatred, The Gentleman and the Jew, Harvest in the Desert, The Second Crucifixion, On the Rim of the Wilderness, The World of Shalom Aleichem, Prince of the Ghetto, Certain People of the Book, Blood Accusation and In Praise of Yiddish. He translated Hebrew and Yiddish works.
